The race is on at Bowhill for Sport Relief 2014

19th February, 2014

Locals are being urged to dig out their running kits as Sport Relief arrives in Selkirk.

On Sunday, March 23, the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will be setting off from Bowhill House & Country Estate at 11am, with hundreds of locals getting on their marks, set and go for Sport Relief.

Super sprinters and willing walkers will all feel at home with a choice of one, three or six miles.
The funds raised from participant’s sponsorships will be used to help transform the lives of people living in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Sarah Peat, Customer Services Manager at Bowhill, said: “This is the second time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Bowhill so let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do.

“There will be plenty of activities on the day so don’t forget to rope in your friends, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too.”

And it’s not just the general public who will be taking on the fundraising challenge. On Friday, February 14, TV presenter Davina McCall completed her gruelling Sport Relief quest by running, swimming and cycling for seven solid days, raising more than £760,000 for the charity.

On Friday, March 21, the BBC will treat the nation to a special night of Sport Relief TV, with presenters including Gary Lineker, Gaby Logan, Claudia Winkleman, Jack Whitehall and Clare Balding hosting a show full of celebrity performances, comedy sketches, highlights from this year’s challenges and films about the incredible work Sport Relief supports.

Del Boy and Rodney will also be back on TV screens after 10 years with a special Only Fools and Horses Sport Relief sketch.

Strictly host, Tess Daly, will reveal the judges’ favourite partnership from Sport Relief Does Strictly, where four Paralympians and their professional dance partners, will have taken on a group dance challenge, hoping to impress the judges and take home the Sport Relief glitter ball trophy on the night.
