Santa to bring Christmas cheer to Bowhill
16th December, 2013
Bowhill House and Country Estate is expecting a special guest as Santa Claus prepares to make a welcome appearance at its first ever Christmas Fair on Wednesday evening (18 Dec).
Children will have the chance to present him with their wish list in his glittering grotto while parents enjoy a spot of last minute holiday shopping from festive traders.
The Fair in Bowhill’s Courtyard promises an evening of Yuletide family fun, with a range of stalls to browse, as well as decoration-making workshops for those who want to get creative.
A merry mix of jewellery, crafts, cakes, bath bombs, fudge and ‘made at Bowhill’ Christmas holly wreaths will be available to buy, while delicious treats and warming mulled wine* are expected to prove popular at the Minstrel Tearoom. The soft play area will also be open to keep the Fair’s youngest visitors entertained.
The pupils of Yarrow Primary School will be on-hand helping to make the night extra special by showcasing their talent for proud parents at the school’s Christmas concert.
Meanwhile anyone with an interest in local history and Selkirk’s links with the Battle of Flodden will have the opportunity to buy memorial items at the Fair.
Helen Currie, House and Events Manager, said: “We welcome everyone to come along and enjoy a lovely Christmas-themed family evening here at Bowhill.
“Guests will get the chance to browse a variety of beautiful goods from all of our wonderful local crafts people and be inspired by unusual gift ideas just in time for Christmas. Keen creatives can even try their hand at making some decorations of their own.”
Entry to the event is free, with a cost of £2.50 to visit Santa.
