Poignant Christmas concert hosted at Bowhill House

24th December, 2018

The historic and picturesque surroundings of Bowhill House in Selkirk provided the backdrop for an exclusive evening with harpist Margaret Knight as the House opened its doors for a special evening of classical Christmas music.

The first class musician has performed at world class venues across the globe and now regards Bowhill House as one of her favourites.

Margaret said: “The Old Chapel in Bowhill House was one of the best acoustic rooms I have ever played in. I’ve played in the country’s most prestigious concert halls such as The Albert Hall in London and the Winter Palace in St Petersburg but I can honestly say that I enjoyed Bowhill just as much!”

Guests enjoyed an evening of classic carols and music played on the harp earlier this month which got everyone in the festive spirit.

Sarah Richardson, Visitor Services and Marketing Manager at Bowhill House and Grounds, said: “This was the first time we’ve held a Christmas concert at Bowhill and it offered a rare opportunity for guests to step inside the House in the winter months.

“The House provided the perfect setting for Margaret’s performance and I’m so pleased to hear she loved the acoustics, we hope to welcome her back again next year.”
