Outdoor Theatre Update

3rd October, 2013

The fabulous summer weather this year meant that two theatre shows planned for Bowhill were able to take place in the stunning garden setting.

The first one, Romeo and Juliet, was performed by a group of four men, who travelled across the country with everything they needed on bicycles. As they were also playing the female characters, including Juliet (as it would have been done in Shakespeare’s day) this led to some very interesting costume changes. Ever seen a net curtain be a skirt, a veil, a character in its own right and part of the sky? The audience were enchanted and delighted and can’t wait to see them again next year!

The second show, Treasure Island, was very family orientated and had youngsters entranced, singing, shouting, cheering and joining in the fun. Again, we are looking forward to their return next year.

Be sure to check out our upcoming theatre events, Rallying Round by the Northumberland Theatre Company (on 31 Oct) and An Evening with the Humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer (16 Nov).
