Myth and Mystery is Illuminated in Bowhill House and Country Estate’s Dark Woods
8th October, 2013
As the darker nights arrive upon us, Bowhill House and Country Estate is set to let myth and fairytale come to life as the woods are lit up in a spectacle of lights.
Taking place on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October, visitors can enter the world of giants, fairies and dragons as the Dark Wood event takes you on a night time walk in the woods accompanied by a story-teller relaying the secrets that lie in-between the trees.
A number of community groups, including a group of over 60 Girl Guides, have been working hard to make pieces of art in the forest and during the Dark Wood event, their efforts will come to life with lights and music.
Following on from the success of 2012’s Giants in the Forest, Bowhill House is offering an evening of intrigue and with each guided performance lasting 45 minutes (setting off approximately every 20 minutes from 6pm-8pm), visitors can expect to be wowed by what is in store.
Helen Currie, House and Events Manager at Bowhill House and Country Estate said: “This event is one of the highlights in our annual calendar as it is such a favourite with families of all ages and so many people coming together to participate.
“Producers of the woodland show, Vision Mechanics, do a magnificent job in bringing it all together and you can be rest assured you will never look at the woods in the same way again.
“It is a magical experience that, regardless of the weather, illuminates imaginations and for one weekend only, turns fantasy into reality that can be viewed before your very eyes.”
Following its appearance at Bowhill, the production will move up to Glentress, near Peebles on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th October.
Tickets for Dark Wood are priced at £8 for adults, £5 for school children or £22 for a family of four. For more information log on to www.bowhill.org or call Eastgate Theatre 01721 725 777
