Celebrate the seasons at Bowhill
6th July, 2016
Bowhill House and Country Estate is delighted to host a stunning exhibition of intricate illustrations from local artist Laura Blackwood.
The exhibition has just opened within Bowhill’s theatre foyer, and one of the key highlights is her book ‘A Celebration of Nature through the Seasons’ – a beautiful illustrated study of the British Countryside.
The artist was inspired by the natural environment at her home in the Scottish Borders and her work expresses her love of the landscape.
This fantastic exhibition will showcase the stages involved in completing the book, along with stunning prints of the final edition.
Helen Currie, House and Events Manager at Bowhill, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the brilliant work of this incredibly talented local artist. Laura’s illustrated book took more than five years to complete and I’m sure our visitors will love the chance to see the journey she took on this labour of love for nature.
‘It is fitting that Bowhill hosts the work of an artist who took inspiration from long walks exploring the countryside as a child. We provide a vast range of activities for children to capture their imagination – perhaps this exhibition, coupled with all we offer at the Estate, may already be providing inspiration the artists of tomorrow.”
Copies of ‘A Celebration of Nature through the Seasons’, which costs £150, will be on sale at Bowhill’s gift shop.
There will also be the opportunity to buy specially chosen framed prints which cost £140, or £75 unframed, and some specially picked prints will be available from the Bowhill gift shop.
The exhibition will be open until August 3.
