Autumn delights at Bowhill

2nd September, 2014

Bowhill is inviting all the family to celebrate the start of autumn at the Estate with an exciting calendar of events throughout September.

The final part of Bowhill’s Talk and Walk series for this year examines the vast and varying collection of fungi in the Estate’s woodlands.

The two hour beginners’ tour takes guests on a walk around the picturesque woodlands accompanied by a Bowhill Estate Ranger who will provide facts about the fungi discovered along the way.

The autumn Talk and Walk takes place on September 7 between 11am and 1pm. Tickets cost £8 per person.

On September 12, Bowhill’s spectacular 72-seat theatre plays host to The Haunters – a chilling tale of a brilliant doctor who dies violently. The doctor’s brother takes to the fog filled streets to uncover the truth behind the untimely demise only to discover that death might not be the end of the story.

Guests can enjoy a pre-theatre menu at Bowhill House, priced £13, before the show kicks off at 8pm. Tickets are £12 for adults and £10 for under 16s.

A Bowhill tradition, the Harvest Festival and scarecrow competition, returns next month. Alongside the competition the festival offers an exciting programme of harvest themed activities and entertainment for the entire family. The deadline for entries is September 19.

The winning scarecrows will be announced at the Harvest Festival which takes place on September 21 from 11am-4pm. A £50 prize is on offer for the best group entry and another £50 for the best family entry. Entry forms and more information can be found on Bowhill’s website.

And that’s not all for September. Throughout the month children can enjoy story telling in the woods every Wednesday 1.30pm and Wild Welly Walks takes place each Friday at 1.30pm. Each session is priced £2.00 per child. Accompanying adults go free.
