Forestry

The woodlands have been carefully managed for centuries and to meet the full range of objectives of timber production, sporting, recreation, biodiversity, wildlife management, landscape and amenity. As a result the woods are diverse in terms of species and age with significant production of both conifer and broadleaf timber. Our woods produce everything from firewood, standard building and fencing timber grades through to premium quality Douglas Fir, Larch, Pine and Hardwood.

Unfortunately many Larch trees across the UK are succumbing to a very aggressive disease called Phytophora Ramorum, and we remain vigilant for signs of the disease across the estate.  For more information on the impact this is having on our woodlands please read our news article.
