Harvest Festival fun celebrates last day of Bowhill visitor season
6th September, 2019
A renowned family event is set to return to Selkirk on Sunday 29 September celebrating the Harvest Festival.
The Harvest Festival will take place between 11am-3pm at Bowhill House and Country Estate, with a fun-packed schedule planned including woodturning and a traditional horse logging display.
Budding bakers can also take part in Bowhill’s very own Bake Off. The competition is split into two age categories – under-12s and over-12s – meaning bakers of all ages can show off their skills.
Rory Powell, House Manager at Bowhill House and Country Estate, said: “Our annual Harvest Festival is always a fantastic day celebrating farming and forestry.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of families and sampling an array of tasty bakes during our Bowhill Bake Off.”
The celebration also marks the last day of the popular destination’s visitor season but there is still lots of fun to be had at Bowhill ahead of the Estate closing.
Visitors can explore the Duchess’s carriage route through the grounds during a guided Ranger walk on Saturday 14 September at 11am. The event is part of The Borders Walking Festival.
A red squirrel guided walk is taking place on Sunday 22 September at 2pm as part of the Great Scottish Squirrel Survey.
Rory continued: “Although the House and Estate will officially close on Sunday 29 September, the calendar of events continues at Bowhill with Halloween and Christmas activities in the coming months, as well as our theatre programme.”
Both guided walks can be booked by calling 01750 22204 or emailing info@bowhillhouse.co.uk.
