Heritage talk kicks off April activity programme at Bowhill

Bowhill House and Country Estate’s popular Heritage Talks series is set to return this year and is the first in a line up of events coming to the Estate this month.
Taking place on 6th April, the first talk examines the work, lives and reputations of two renowned 18th century portrait painters, Sir Joshua Reynolds and Thomas Gainsborough.
The series enables visitors to have the chance to explore Bowhill’s rich history with a fascinating insight into various topics from its past. The talks will take place on the first Friday of the month and include a delicious cream tea.
A host of outdoors activities are currently taking place throughout the Easter holidays. They include den building, camp fire fun and raft building during several Ranger-led clubs.
The Holiday Ranger Club and Saturday Ranger Club take place on five dates during the holidays and are the perfect way to keep youngsters busy.
Younger adventurers (aged six and under) can join in the fun with the return of Nutty’s Little Squirrel Club on 6th April. The club will be held every Friday until September and includes activities such as mud pie making.
The holiday fun also continues in the Bowhill Theatre with a performance of The Owl and the Pussycat from the Folding Puppet Theatre Company on 8th April. The show follows the story of an owl and pussycat as they board a luxury cruise liner and face many trials before they reach their destination.
The month’s events conclude with a Ranger guided walk through the Estate on 25th April. It is the first of a programme of walks – each one will focus on a different topic from biodiversity in the woodlands to wildlife watching.

“We’re excited to welcome back several popular series including the Heritage Talks and Nutty’s Little Squirrel Club.’
Heritage Talks kick off on 6th April at 2pm – tickets cost £7 per person – and the series will continue monthly.
The Bowhill Holiday Ranger Club takes place between 11am and 1pm on 3rd, 5th, 10th and 12th April with the Saturday Ranger Club taking place on 7th April. Places are £5 per child.
The Nutty’s Little Squirrel Club takes place at 2pm on 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th April. Places are £3 per child.
The Owl and the Pussycat takes place on 8th April at 3pm and is suitable for those aged three and over. Tickets cost £8 for adults, £6 for children and £25 for a family of four (two adults and two children).
The Ranger Led Walk takes place on 25th April between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and costs £6 per person.
