Discover the Duke of Buccleuch’s legacy at Bowhill House

From a family history of rebellion to noble Dukes and the treasures held in the Buccleuch Houses, the heritage talks series at Bowhill House has taken visitors on a fascinating journey through time.

The penultimate talk in the series, entitled ‘100 Years of Bowhill’ will take place on Friday 4 August and will tell the tale of the 4th and 5th Dukes which was an exciting time for the Estate.

Led by House Guide Adam Borwick, ‘100 Years of Bowhill’ is the story of the two Dukes who shaped the House and title, making a great impression in the Borders and beyond.

Helen Currie, House and Events Manager at Bowhill, said: “Our heritage talk series is held to mark VisitScotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology and has explored a range of topics so far.

“The legacy of the 4th and 5th Dukes is still with us today and is a captivating story for history enthusiasts and visitors looking to uncover a little piece of the past here at Bowhill.”

The series of talks launched in May and will continue on the first Friday of each month until the end of the visitor season in September.
