Share festive cheer at Bowhill this Christmas

19th November, 2015

With the Christmas countdown well and truly under way, Bowhill House and Country Estate is planning an array of festive activities to get all the family in the Christmas spirit. The Bowhill Christmas Fair, from 11.30am until 4pm on Saturday 5 December, will kick-start the festivities.

As well as stalls by local craftspeople with everything from handbags to jewellery featuring great gift ideas and homemade treasures including holly wreaths, there’s plenty in store to keep the kids entertained.

Nutty the Squirrel’s soft play will be open with craft activities teaching children to make festive decorations.

And Santa’s Grotto is guaranteed to be a favourite, with each child receiving a gift in exchange for sharing their Christmas wishes.

There’s also a chance to win a birthday party on the Estate during the 2016 season thanks to the fair’s snowman design competition – with entries already open. The first 15 entries will receive a free season pass for 2016.

For anyone who wants to build a snowman, entry forms can be downloaded online from www.bowhillhouse.co.uk/events/ and must be completed and returned with each snowman by Thursday 3 December.

Visitors will also be entertained with the tales of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ at Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre’s traditional puppet show performance in Bowhill’s Theatre. Shows begin at 12pm and 3pm with advance tickets on sale now for £5.

Anyone who loves giving truly personal gifts can also take part in exclusive festive Wreath Making and Christmas Garland workshops taking place throughout December.

As well as learning the techniques for crafting the perfect festive decorations, winter warming drinks and tasty treats will also be provided.

Wreath Making is held on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 December from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Entry is £19 and includes refreshments.

Christmas Garland Making will take place on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Entry is £22 and includes refreshments.

Helen Currie, House and Events Manager at Bowhill, said: “Christmas is a time for family and we’re delighted to be hosting some wonderful events that everyone can enjoy. Our Christmas Fair is a fairly new addition but has proven popular and is perfect for hunting down great, locally made gifts as well as enjoying some entertainment – and the snowman trail featuring our competition entries.

“We’re sure that our Wreath Making and Christmas Garland workshops will prove equally as popular. There’s nothing better than handmade decorations to make the house feel really warm and welcoming for the family at this time of year.

“We’re very excited to welcome everyone to the Estate over the festive season.”
