Make the most of sunny May days at Bowhill

Bowhill is inviting all the family along to bring in summer at the Estate and enjoy a series of exciting activities throughout May.

The month promises an array of fun-packed events from special guided walks to a fantastic theatre show.

May will kick off with a special performance at Bowhill theatre entitled The Straw Chair by Sue Glover. Set on a remote island in the early eighteenth century, this play tells a story of liberty, love and betrayal that is sure to have the audience gripped from start to finish.

The production takes place on May 1 and starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £12 per person with the option of a pre-theatre supper for an additional £13. To book tickets, call Bowhill House and Country Estate on 01750 22204, or order from Border Events via the website at www.borderevents.com.

The popular Spring Fling will make a welcome return to the Estate as Bowhill prepares to host a three-day event from Saturday, May 2 to Monday, May 4. A selection of family-friendly activities for all ages will run from 11am-4pm.

Youngsters can take a ride on the chair ‘o’ plane for a small additional charge of £1. Bowhill House will also open its doors for guided tours for visitors who would like to take a stroll around the House and learn about the rich history of Bowhill.

Nutty’s Little Squirrel Club continues to run throughout May, allowing little ones to get out in to the woodlands of Bowhill for a Ranger activity, including explorer walks, storytelling, woodland crafts and wilderness games.

Children must be under six and accompanied by an adult. The club will run every Wednesday from April to September and costs £2.50 per child.

Lastly, May will see the first of a series of guided walks take place, as part of Secret Strolls at Bowhill. The first adventure starts on May 30 from 11am to 1pm and offers the chance to explore the history of the Estate’s landscape and woodland.

Bowhill’s guided walks are suitable for all the family, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the hidden corners of the Estate and see some of the secret paths at Bowhill. Secret Strolls at Bowhill will continue to run from April to September on the last Saturday of each month.

Places are priced at £3 per adult and £2 per child. A family ticket (includes two adults and two children) costs £8.
