Giving something to children in need
10th September, 2013
For many years now, Bowhill has hosted children from Chernobyl who come to nearby Selkirk to stay with families.
These children are still suffering the devastating effects of the nuclear accident which hit Chernobyl in 1986. Over the years it has been heartening to see each group of children look healthier than the last and we are always pleased to support local efforts to give these children a break in the beautiful Borders countryside.
This year our Seasonal Ranger, Michael, led the children in an activity which involved lots of marshmallows, bits of cardboard and feathers. It was a lot of fun and helped the children to get to know their host families better and improve their language skills.
